what's on in winchester over half term
The half term holiday is heading our way so we’ve put together a little run down of things happening over the half term week.
The half term holiday in Hampshire is 30 May - 3 June and also coincides with the Jubilee weekend celebrations where the whole of the UK will be awash with red white and blue to celebrate 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II…and don’t forget it’s a long bank holiday weekend too as Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June are bank holidays this year!
marwell zoo
Brickosaurs - on all week
A world-first collection of 55 prehistoric creatures made using more than 2 million toy bricks have taken over the zoo. Step back in time and embark on a prehistoric adventure through the park, coming face-to-face with a huge variety of dinosaurs for BRICKOSAURS! Evolution
New Arrivals - on all week
Marwell zoo have welcomed 2 red-necked wallaby joeys! These adorable youngsters are already a few months old but have started to peep out from their mothers’ pouches.
Humbolt penguin eggs have also been spotted and could hatch at any time. Also new to Marwell is a critically endangered addax calf and a Near Threatened lesser kudu calf. Both born at Marwell earlier this year

Lights, Camera, Science - on all week
One of our favourite uses of light in the 21st century has got to be in cinema. Did you know that the release of Star Wars in 2002 sparked a technological transformation in cinema? Instead of traditional film, movies were now being made digitally. Find out more facts about light at this exhibition.
Solar System Adventure - on all week
Ready to blast off into the Solar System for the ultimate family adventure? We've got hundreds of moons, eight planets, five dwarf planets and one sun to explore. Where will the adventure take you?

Watercress Line
Thomas and Friends - Sat 28 May - Sun 5 June
Thomas will be visiting the Watercress Line this half term. At the station will be Sodor Station Sweepers Rusty & Dusty, Diesel and Toad – with Sir Topham Hatt keeping all the activities in order.
Three new outdoor entertainment shows will be held each day for all the family to enjoy as Rusty & Dusty invite their friends to join them. Young fans can make special memories by meeting their favourite characters Sir Topham Hatt, Rusty & Dusty up close and there is plenty more fun in store with Thomas & Friends

Jubilee celebrations
Over the week and especially on the Jubilee weekend, there will be plenty of celebrations. From street performances to street parties, it looks set to be a fantastic weekend!
The Harestock Big Jubilee Lunch - Sunday 5 June
Join your neighbours and friends for a big community lunch. Why not dress up, bring your tables, chairs, food, drink and even gazebos and decorate them in grand celebratory style. (Think festival meets Royal garden party!) Or just bring a rug, a chair and some flags to wave, and enjoy a convivial afternoon.
Organised in collaboration with Harestock Primary School PTA. All Profits will go to the School Pond Renovation Appeal.
