At A,D8 UK Limited we are working hard to make all our properties as planet friendly as we can.
Protecting the planet we all live on is very important to us. We want to make sure we are doing all we can to limit our impact on the planet so we can be sure we've done all we can to help leave planet earth in a healthy state for our future generations.
What are we doing?
Energy
Current Step: All our properties are on green energy tariffs which means that some or all of the electricity bought is 'matched' by purchases of renewable energy that the energy supplier makes on our behalf.
Next Step: Transfer all our properties to 100% renewable energy tariffs.
Properties
Current Step: EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating for all properties.
Next Step: To get all properties to EPC rating B or above.
Appliances
Current Step: To repair any appliance that has stopped working and to make sure all appliances are working efficiently.
Next Step: To buy A rated appliances across the board as and when they need replacing.
Cleaning Products
Current Step: We have changed all our cleaning products to toxic free, cruelty free and minimal waste products in our Littleton property.
Next Step: To roll out the products to all our other properties. Move to plastic free recycled kitchen roll in all properties.
Toiletries
Current Step: We provide bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash and liquid soap. We also supply standard toilet rolls.
Next Step: We are working to find a supplier of individual, plastic free solid toiletries - we have one lead, if you know of others please let us know! We are also swapping our standard toilet roll for plastic free recycled ones in all properties.
Other
Current Step: We have EV chargers located at two of our properties.
Next Step: Install EV chargers at all properties that can have one.
What can you do to help the planet, when you stay with us and beyond?
Make a note of the cleaning products and how to use them in the property, just in case you need to clean up a spill etc.
Swap to planet friendly cleaning products at home. We love Ocean Savers, Dri-Pak and Eco Egg
Use the recycling facilities we have in each property to reduce your landfill waste. Recycling information can be found in each property's Digital Handbook emailed to you before you arrive
Set up a recycling system at home
Compost organic waste where you can
Reduce single use plastic - buy loose vegetables, take a reusable coffee cup and stainless steel bottle out with you, take reusable carrier bags to the supermarket
Buy food items in glass jars rather than plastic pots
Buy from your local waste free shop. In Winchester we have Earthian on the High Street
Use a bamboo toothbrush and place it in a compost bin when it is no longer useable
Turn off lights in rooms as you vacate them
Keep heating below 21°C
Keep showers to under 4 minutes
Turn off appliances when not in use
Use public transport, walk or cycle rather than use a car
If you need a car buy electric (but only after your petrol/diesel car has come to the end of it's life)
Reduce meat and dairy consumption
